Notes About N.E. Iowans in the Service
PLAINFIELD—Jack Smith, son of Mrs. Jennie Smith, has received an honorable discharge from the Army after three and one-half years service, and 24 months overseas. Since his return to the States in June, 1944, he has been stationed at Miami, Fla., and later was at Westover Field, Mass., where he was an instructor in mechanics.

Devere “Jack” Smith was born Oct. 18, 1909 to He died Oct. 5, 1949 and is buried in Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield, IA. Sgt.
Smith served with the U.S. Army Air Corps 112th Base Unit in World War II.
