Former Traer Boy Is Rescued from U. S. Destroyer
Traer, Ia.—Dayle Smith, former Traer boy, was one of the naval officers rescued from the U. S. Sturtevant when the destroyer was sunk off the Florida coast several days ago by an underwater explosion. Word of his safety has been received by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Smith, Traer, and his mother, Mrs. Al Peterson, Dysart. He is a graduate of the Traer high school and has been in the Navy many years.
