Clifford Leon Senior, seaman first class, wearer of the American defense and Asiatic-Pacific service ribbons with stars for three undisclosed campaigns, recently spent a 10-day leave with his mother and stepfather, Sgt. and Mrs. Eugene Rosales at Lebanon, Pa., and New York city.

Seaman Senior enlisted in the navy in February, 1942, while visiting his mother in San Antonio, Tex. He attended Longfellow and Bloomer school here and high school in Minneapolis prior to his enlistment.

His mother has returned to Council Bluffs and is residing at 529 ½ Nineteenth avenue for the duration.

Notified Son Is Missing at Sea

Mrs. Dorothy Rosales, 529 ½ Nineteenth avenue, was notified by the navy department that her son, Seaman 1/c Clifford Leon Senior, is missing at sea.

For the last 15 months, Seaman Senior had been serving aboard the destroyer U. S. S. Warrington, which was sunk in the hurricane off the Atlantic seaboard last week [September 13].

He had been in the navy since February, 1942, having served in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters of war.

Seaman Senior attended Abraham Lincoln high school and completed his high school training in Minneapolis.

Clifford Leo Senior was born to Leo Clifford and Ethel Edwards Makepeace. He was adopted by E. W. and Dorothy Senior. He died Sept. 13, 1944 (at sea) and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, East Coast Memorial, Manhattan, NY.
