News About Men in Service From Over Northeast Iowa
LAPORTE CITY—Louis W. Schmitz, petty officer second class, and his wife will return to Iowa City Monday after spending a seven-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmitz, Route 3, LaPorte City, and his wife’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Delagardelle, at Gilbertville. On Nov. 1, Schmitz was promoted from third class storekeeper to second class storekeeper.

Louis William Schmitz was born Aug. 4, 1917 to Peter Joseph and Esther Mary Steimel Schmitz. He died Nov. 16, 1982 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Gilbertville, IA.
