Return Bodies of Eight Vets
Three From Bluffs Included in Group
Eight southwest Iowans, including three from Council Bluffs, are among the war dead being returned to the United States aboard the USS Joseph V. Connolly, the Associated Press reported Saturday from Washington, D. C.
The army revealed most of the bodies were returned from Henri Chappelle cemetery, Eupen, Belgium. Some of them were returned from Argentina, Newfoundland, central assembly point for the dead from Iceland and Newfoundland.
The Council Bluffs’ dead are:
Pvt. Ernest D. Coad – next of kin, Mrs. Elizabeth R. Coad, 902 Second avenue. Killed at Aachen, Germany, Nov. 22, 1944.
Cpl. Dale L. Morgan – Mrs. Bernice Porter, 705 South Twelfth street. Killed in action with 1st army in Germany on Dec. 1, 1944.
Pfc. Robert G. Rohrberg – Mrs. Mary E. Elmore, 2000 Eleventh street. Killed in action in Germany, Feb. 23, 1945.
All of the bodies are being sent to the Kansas City, Mo., quartermasters depot regional distribution center.

Robert George Rohrberg was born May 29, 1925 to Henry and Mary Emma Spetman Rohrberg. He died Feb. 23, 1945 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs, IA.
Pvt. Rohrberg served with the U.S. Army 13th Infantry in World War II.
