Cpl. James Reitzel Gets a Dog from German Forces
Cpl. James Reitzel who is now in France with the American forces, writes that he now has a dog. The dog had abandoned some German troops during a bombardment and came over to the American lines in hopes of finding safety. Cpl. Reitzel and the dog became companions at first sight and became attached to each other. He says that when the enemy starts a bombardment, the dog is always first to find a fox hole.Source: The Free Press , Ruthven, Iowa, November 01, 1944
