ST. ANSGAR—Staff Sgt. Reuben Perau, waist gunner on one of the Eighth air force Flying Fortresses, and son of Mrs. Elsie Perau of St. Ansgar, has written his mother that he holds a Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air medal with three Oak Leaf clusters, that he has participated in some of the longest Eighth air force heavy bombings of recent months, recently completing his twenty-fifth heavy bombing assault on Germany and the occupied countries of Nazi Europe.

Reuben William Perau was born Oct. 24, 1914 to George and Elsa Baldorer Perau. He died July 16, 1926 and is buried in Saint Peter Cemetery, Toeterville, IA.
Sgt. Perau served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and 7 Oak Leaf Clusters.
