Held as Jap Prisoner
The war department has sent word that Pvt. Donald T. Nugent is a prisoner of the Japanese, received here Friday.
Pvt. Nugent, last heard from when he was on Bataan, is being held in the Philippines, according to word received by his sister, Mrs. Eleanor Schmidt, 833 Park avenue, Omaha.

Japanese Prisoner Reported Killed
Pvt. Donald T. Nugent, son of F. A. Nugent, 118 North Thirty-ninth street, one of a group of Americans, prisoners of war of the Japanese, who were torpedoed by the allies when being transported in a Japanese ship [Shinyo Maru] off the coast of Davao Mindanao Sept. 7, has been officially listed as dead by the war department.
Pvt. Nugent’s mother, Mrs. Theo Brisco, is in Detroit, Mich. Pvt. Nugent attended Franklin school here before moving to Omaha with his mother several years ago.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Cpl. Frederick A. Nugent, who has just gone overseas; two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Schmidt of Omaha and Mrs. Helen Folks in California; and an aunt, Mrs. Frank Clark, 2657 Avenue A.
