Lt. William P. Murphy

 

 

 

IN UNIFORM
Second Lt. William P. Murphy, son of Mrs. Helen J. Murphy, 1515 McDonald street, has been awarded an oak leaf cluster to his air medal for meritorious achievement during heavy bombing attacks against military and industrial targets in the reich, and enemy installations in the path of the allied armies in western Europe. Lt. Murphy is bombardier on an Eighth air force Flying Fortress, and a member of the 385th bombardment group. He graduated from Trinity high school and attended Trinity college here before entering the Army in February, 1943. He graduated and received his wings at Childress army air field, Tex., in May, 1944.

William Patrick Murphy was born July 26, 1923 to John Joseph and Helen Fitzpatrick Murphy. He died Mar. 12, 1973.

Lt. Murphy served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 385th Bomb Group.
