COUNTY WAR DEAD BACK FOR BURIAL
THREE POTTAWATTIE SOLDIERS IN SHIPMENT
The bodies of three Pottawattamie county war dead are being returned to the United States aboard the army transport Barney Kirschbaum. Seventy-six Iowans are included in the 4,684 remains being returned, the department of the army announced Tuesday.
Woodring funeral home will receive the bodies of S/Sgt. Derald W. Melton, 21, son of Mrs. and Mrs. William Melton, 449 Park avenue, and of Pfc. Walter L. Moore, 24, husband of Mrs. Kerry A. Moore, 1516 Avenue I.
Blust-Berthusen funeral home of Avoca will receive the body of Sgt. Roy R. Ronnfeldt, 25, brother of Carl Ronnfeldt of Avoca.
Pfc. Moore was killed near Iiamburg, Germany on March 30, 1945, while serving with the spearhead unit of a tank battalion. He was born May 25, 1921, at Council Bluffs, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Moore. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn cemetery.
Survivors are the widow; two sons, Terry Lee and Dennis Ray, at home; two daughters, Pamela Marie and Janice Sue, at home; his parents; one sister, Mrs. Leonard Brockman, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Moore and Mrs. and Mrs. Roderick Vincent, all of Council Bluffs.

PFC. WALTER L. MOORE
The body of Pfc. Walter Lee Moore, 24, 1516 Avenue I, world war II veteran, will arrive in Council Bluffs Tuesday and be taken to Woodring funeral home. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Kerry Moore, 1516 Avenue I. Pfc. Moore was killed in action March 30, in the European theater of the war.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Woodring’s chapel, the Rev. P. F. Schroeder of Second Baptist church officiating. V.F.W. post No. 737 will conduct military rites at Cedar Lawn cemetery.
