Sioux Cityan Dies of Injuries Suffered in Accident
Pvt. Robert Emmett Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Miller, 111 Sioux street, died September 9, 1944, in France of injuries suffered in a truck accident, his parents were notified Tuesday.
Pvt. Miller was born July 16, 1906, in Battle Creek, Ia., but spent most of his life in Sioux City, attending St. Boniface parochial school and public schools. He was a former member of the Iowan National guard and later enlisted in the regular army to spend two years in the Philippines and four years on the west coast.
Following his discharge from the Army in 1931, he worked at the plumbing trade until October 9, 1943, when he was inducted into the Army. He went overseas in February, 1944, and was with an engineer corps attached to Gen. Patton’s army at the time of his death.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Helen Spencer, Oshkosh, Wis., Mrs. June Kephart, Valejo, Cal., Mrs. Kay Lenz and Mrs. Elizabeth Neswick of Sioux City, and one brother, Richard Miller, of South Sioux City.

Pvt. Robert E. Miller is buried in Epinal American Cemetery, Dinoze, France. He served in World War II with the U.S. Army 997th Engineer Bridge Company.
