KILLED IN ACTION
Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond D. Miller, Route 1, that their son, Pfc. Raymond D. Miller, jr., 21, was killed in action on the western front in Germany March 13. Pfc. Miller, formerly of the air corps and later transferred to the infantry, had been in the service since January, 1943, and had been overseas 10 day. He received 14 months of training in Camp Pinedale near Fresno, Calif. And prior to going overseas he was stationed at Camp Maxey, Tex.
A brother, S. Sgt. Oliver O. Miller, with the air corps, was killed in action in the Pacific a year ago.

Plan Memorial for Pfc. Miller
Memorial services for Pfc. Raymond D. Miller, jr., second son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond D. Miller of Dumfries to be killed in action, will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. at St. John’s Evangelical church one mile southwest of Dumfries.
The Rev. A. G. Crisp of Council Bluffs and the Rev. G. Bauman of Minden will officiate. Veterans of Foreign Wars, Grenville M. Dodge post No. 737 of Council Bluffs and the Silver city American Legion post will take part in the services.
Cars will be furnished for Council Bluffs V. F. W. members and the auxiliary at the V. F. W. club rooms Sunday at 1 p. m.

NOTE: There is a memorial stone for both S/Sgt. Oliver O. Miller and his brother Pvt. Raymond D. Miller, Jr. at the Saint Paul’s Evangelical Country Church Cemetery, Dumfries, Iowa.
Pvt. Raymond Miller served with the 395th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
