Waterloo Man Killed in Bomber Crash
2nd Lt. Marion R. Messingham, formerly of Waterloo, was killed in a crash of a medium bomber [B-26] Albany, Tex., Sunday [June 20], according to word received here by his wife, Mrs. Anne Messingham.
Others killed when the bomber from Laughlin army air field at Del Rio crashed include: 1st Lt. Robert T. Lee, Jr., Manchester, Vt.; Staff Sgt. Herbert C. Arnold, Big Spring, Tex.; Staff Sgts. Arnold and Bernard K. Pollock, Plymouth, Ill.; and Pfc. Robert Groome, Newport, Del.
Lieutenant Messingham was a flight instructor with the 62nd squadron of the army air forces.
