World War II Veteran Joins V. F. W. Here
HARRY MANNING AND MOTHER IN POST, AUXILIARY
Pearl Harbor Victim Youngest Ever to Be Received by VFW Here
Harry Keith Manning, 18 year old Mason Cityan who is the first veteran of World War II home from the Pearl Harbor attack of Dec. 7, and his mother, Mrs. Howard Cole, 1620 Taft avenue southwest, were given the obligation of membership into the Veterans of Foreign Wars post and auxiliary by Commander H. J. Reiber and Auxiliary President Mrs. Arnold Tilton at a joint meeting held Wednesday evening at the V. F. W. hall.
Manning is the youngest veteran to be received into the organization since it was established in 1899.
The local V. F. W. post is cooperating with the Junior Chamber of Commerce in observing flag week Feb. 12-22.

On Feb. 15 members will broadcast on KGLO in co-operation with the American Legion on its Americanism program. Members participating will be Charles Barlow, Arthur Harris, Lowell Forbes and Stanley MacPeak.
The post voted to buy another $500 defense bond and now owns two such bonds.
