SEAMAN ALVIN LOCHNER KILLED
East High Graduate Was in Service Since December
Alvin Robert Lochner, 18, seaman first class, was killed in action recently, according to a telegram received Friday by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lochner, 3008 Washington avenue. The telegram gave no details.
The young seaman was graduated from East high school in June, 1944, and enlisted the following December. The mother stated that the last letter received from her son was dated March 10. He would have been 19 years old had he lived until his birthday, April 13.
Mr. and Mrs. Lochner have one other child, a son, Loren, 17, who attends East high school.

Memorial Rites to Be Held Sunday for Seaman A. Lochner
Memorial services will be held for Alvin Robert Lochner, seaman first class, 18, at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the First Christian Church, 14th and Nebraska streets. Rev. Homer E. Watkins will officiate.
Seaman Lochner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lochner, 3008 Washington avenue, was killed in action recently in the South Pacific. Following his graduation from East high school in June, 1944, he began his boot training at the Great Lakes Naval Station. He had been overseas since last August and had taken part in five major battles. Billie Lochner, a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Lochner, was killed three months ago, also in the Pacific.

Petty Officer Alvin Robert Lochner died Mar. 19, 1945 and was buried at sea just south of the island of Honshu, Japan and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
