Sgt. Norman Linsley, son of Mrs. M. Linsley of Sioux City, has been awarded the combat infantry badge for outstanding performance of duty and exemplary conduct in action against the enemy in the Kerama Retto islands just off Okinawa. Sgt. Linsley, a rifleman and assistant squad leader with the 306th infantry regiment of the 77th Statue of Liberty division, was inducted into the Army June 29, 1944, received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Ark., and joined the 77th infantry division last February. The Sioux Cityan attended East high school and prior to his induction worked as a machinist for the Puget sound navy yard at Bremerton, Wash. He is authorized to wear the Philippine liberation ribbon, the good conduct ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon with two battle stars in addition to the combat infantry badge.
