Harry W. Leinbaugh, Jr. was born 14 March 1923, at Moville, to Harry and Lova (Twogood) Leinbaugh. Graduated Moville High School in 1941.
Attended Westmar College at LeMars, Iowa, and Wayne State College at Wayne, Nebraska, before joining the U.S. Army.
Harry entered the Army 23 January 1943 at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He was sent to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, for basic training.
Harry served with the Military Police Unit 677 for two years. He served as a military guard and policeman assigned to various organizations and units. He acted as a guard on military trains, prisoner and prisoner-of- war guard, town patrolman, and in other police and guard capacities. His experience included police techniques, interrogation of prisoners, suspects and witnesses, and crime surveillance. He served as general office clerk and typist handling military correspondence, orders, rosters and reports for three months.
Harry was honorably discharged 3 March 1946, at Fort Leavenworth after serving three years and one month. His classification was Corporal of Train Guard Detachment District 3, Kansas City, Missouri.
He received the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He married Helen Mae Harris, 18 July 1948, in Sioux City. One son, Richard Harry, was born to this union. Son, Richard, married Pamela Ulsen of Sioux City, in Moville, on 17 September 1971. Grandchildren are: Aaron Richard and Kaysie Ann.
Harry was employed by Wincharger, Zenith, Dyna-Tech, Prince Manufacturing and Schaeff-Namco before retiring in 1985.
Harry passed away 21 March 1998, in a Sioux City, hospital. Harry is buried in Kingsley, Iowa.
