Howard C. Lebeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard G. Lebeck, formerly of Sioux City, now of Bremerton, Washington has graduated from the air force training command base at Ellington field, Texas, and received his commission as a second lieutenant and his silver wings as an army air force navigator. He visited his parents during the Christmas holidays before leaving for New Mexico where he will attend a bombardier school; Lieut. Lebeck formerly was employed in the Puget Sound navy yard at Bremerton. He took preflight training at Santa Ana, Cal. Before entering service he attended the University of Washington in Seattle during the first quarter of 1942.

Howard LeBeck Dies On Luzon
Former Sioux Cityan, East High Graduate, Killed In Action
Second Lt. Howard LeBeck, former Sioux Cityan, and graduated of East High School, was killed in action on the second day of the Luzon invasion, January 7, the war department notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. LeBeck, now of Bremerton, Wash.
Young LeBeck, who attended Morningside college before moving west with his parents, was serving in the army air corps as a navigator. He received his wings and commission in December, 1943, at Mathers field, Sacramento, Cal. He entered the service November 27, 1942.
He attended the University of Washington at Seattle before entering the army. The family formerly resided here at 2426 S. Palmetto Street.
Details of how LeBeck met his death were not learned.
Survivors are the parents and two sisters, Margery and Doris, all of Bremerton.

KILLED IN ACTION
Second Lt. Howard C. Lebeck, 22-year-old former Sioux Cityan, was killed in action January 7, on the second day of the Luzon invasion. He was graduated from East high school in 1940. Before entering the air corps he attended Morningside college and the University of Washington. He also worked in the Puget Sound Navy yard in Bremerton, Wash. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Lebeck, of Bremerton, and two sisters, Doris Mae, a pupil of Bremerton high school, and Marjorie Anne, a student at the University of Washington.
