Lest We Forget

Arthur Earl Larsen, son of Mrs. John Donovan Sr., was killed in battle at the Sava Island in the Pacific in the Solomons group on Nov. 14, 1942, when his ship was sunk by the Japs in battle.

Seaman Larsen had served a total of 7 years and 11 months in the U. S. Navy. He was born at Triplett, Mo., and came to Sioux county in 1927, and attended school at Hawarden and later at McNally where he was graduated from a rural school in Washington township.  He joined the Navy when 18 years of age and re-enlisted at the close of his first four years.  He was on furlough and was in California when Pearl Harbor was bombed and lost his life shortly thereafter. He was born Mar. 3, 1916.
