PAUL JONES KILLED
An unofficial report is that Paul Jones was killed in action while fighting somewhere in the South Pacific.
News of his death came from Darwin Chase in a letter to his father, Walter S. Chase. Both young men were with a division of the Marines.
Paul and two brothers were reared by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Frantz, farmers living near here.
(Permission to print the story was given by Mr. and Mrs. Frantz, although they were reluctant to do so because no official notice has been received from the government. However, Darwin’s letter said, “Paul died fighting.” ~Editor’s note.)
