Sgt. Thomas Johnson Was In Action in French Sector
Sgt. Thomas Paul Johnson, native Sioux Cityan, son of Mrs. Lotta Johnson of Omaha, was killed in action January 7, somewhere in France.
Young Johnson was born here about 20 years ago while his father, Pratt Johnson was Associated Press operator for The Journal. The father also died a tragic death, having been stricken at his telegraph key while reporting a World Series ball game for The Journal in the late 20s.
The family moved from Sioux City to Omaha. Other survivors besides the mother are a brother, Ralph of Coffeyville, Kan., and two sisters, Ruth of Omaha and Lillian (Mrs. Hale Lacey) of Grand Island, Neb.
News of the young officer’s death came to Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Bowman, 1815 S. Palmetto street. Mr. Bowman is the Associated Press teletype superintendent at The Journal-Tribune plant.
