Jesup Corporal Killed in India
Jesup, Ia. – Mr. and Mrs. Harry Houck of Jesup received word from the war department late Saturday afternoon that their son, Cpl. Ted Houck, had been killed in India Jan. 14.
No information regarding the manner of cause of death was given.
Corporal Houck was a member of an army air forces ground crew, and had been in India since April.
He is survived by his parents and his wife, now residing in Cedar Rapids, Ia.

Killed in India Explosion
Jesup, Ia. – Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Houck of Jesup have received a telegram from the war department that their son, Cpl. Theodore Houck, 32, was killed in India Jan. 14 in the explosion of a B-29 Superfortress.
HE was stationed at a B-29 base in India and was armament crew chief on “Last Resort.”
Corporal Houck entered service in June, 1943, received basic training at the Lincoln air base and was graduated from armament school at Lowry field, Denver, Colo. He was stationed at Prat, Kan., for a short time before going overseas in February, 1944.
He was born Oct. 23, 1912, and was graduated in 1930 from Jesup high school, where he was prominent in athletics. He attended Coe college. On July, 29, 1940, Theodore married Esther Craig of Cedar Rapids and lived there, being employed as a salesman for Peter Pan bakery. Prior to that he had been a driver for Takin Brothers of Waterloo for several years.
Surviving besides his widow and parents is a brother, Herbert, at home.

Cpl. Houck is buried in Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA.
