Report Holdridge Killed in Action
in Pacific Jan. 7
Chief Radioman Laurel Holdridge, 33, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Holdridge, 704 West First street, who was previously reported missing in action since Jan. 7, is now reported as killed in the Pacific theater on that date, according to word received by his wife, Anne, who resides with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bell, New Hampton, Ia.
A member of the naval reserve, Holdridge was called for duty in December, 1940, and served overseas for the most of the time after that date aboard a destroyer transport.
He was born Mar. 27, 1912, in Los Angeles, Cal. Coming to Waterloo when he was 5 with his parents, he was graduated from East high school in 1929. On Nov. 16, 1939, he married Anne Bell, in Waterloo.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Joyce, 5; his parents; two brothers, Darrell Holdridge, Charles City, Ia., and Elwood Holdridge, 133 Ester street; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Crose, 307 West Ninth street, and Mrs. Clarence Cochne, 309 Charles street.
