ROBERT H. HENRICKSON GIVEN CITATION FOR GALLENTRY UNDER FIRE
Private first class Robert H. Henrickson, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Henrickson, of Alton, has received a division citation for gallantry in action from Major General Chas. W. Ryder, which reads:
“For exceptional meritorious conduct on April 9, 1943, near Fondouk, Tunisia, North Africa. While acting in his capacity of company runner, he performed his duties in an outstanding manner. Though his routes from the battalion CP to his company headquarters necessitated that he cross open terrain under enemy observation and machine gun fire and rifle fire, he accomplished his missions in a meritorious manner and reflects great credit on the Army of the United States, Residence at time of induction, Alton, Iowa.”
Pfc. Henrickson also received commendations from the commanding officer of his regiment, Col. Ray C. Fountain.

Brother, Sister From Alton Home After Army Service
Alton, Ia.—Special: T-5 Robert Henrickson and his sister, Lt. Eleanor Henrickson, are home on leave at the parental C. Henrickson home, enjoying a reunion after years of separation in distant parts of the world.
Bob arrived here from Camp Blanding, Fla., and his sister from Van Nuys, Cal., after being separated for four years by a much wider distance.. Bob left with Company I from Sheldon in 1941 for training at Camp Claiborne, La., then to Africa where he won a decoration for extraordinary bravery, then to Italy and finally to the United States on furlough last year. After his furlough, he was assigned to Camp Blanding.
Lt. Eleanor volunteered for overseas service with the Army Nurses Corps and journeyed to India and Burma. After several attacks of sinusitis, Lt. Henrickson was invalided to the United States on an airlines hospital ship. She was a patient at Van Nuys hospital for some time, but is now on duty again. She left Tuesday for her job.
