John Harig Died May 11, Germany
Staff Sgt. John T. Harig, 27, was killed in action May 11 in Germany, according to word received by his aunt, Mrs. Mary Biever, Route 6, with whom he formerly made his home. He entered service in June, 1941, took his basic training at Camp Wolters, Tex., and served at Ft. Knox, Ky., Camp Cooke, Cal., Camp Forest, Tenn., and Camp Pine, N. C., before going overseas in January, 1944.
Sergeant Harig was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Walsenburg, Colo., son of Peter J. and Teresa Harig. He came here to make his home with his aunt, Mrs. Biever, when his mother died in1919. He was graduated from Immanculate Conception school, Gilbertsville.
Surviving besides his father is a half-sister, mrs. Eleanor Toogood, Walsenburg, Colo., and a half-brother, Franklin Campbell, living in Ohio.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 a. m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception church, Gilbertsville, Ia., with Rev. Fr. W. J. Cremer, pastor, celebrating requiem high mass.

Sgt. Harig is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
