Pfc. George D. Hall, Waterloo, has been awarded the combat infantryman’s badge for “exemplary conduct in action in France on Nov. 28,” it was announced Thursday in a press release. Now serving with the 80th infantry division, he is the son of Mrs. Clara Hall, 1508 Jefferson street. His wife and two children reside at 1511 Jefferson.

G. D. Hall Is Killed in Germany
Added to the list of Waterloo men killed in action Thursday was Pfc. George Donald Hall, 30, whose wife and two children, Billy and Beverly, reside at 1511 Jefferson street.
Private Hall, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Hall, 1508 Jefferson street, was killed in action in Germany Feb. 16 while serving with the infantry
A former employe (sic) of the Waterloo street department, he entered service on Mar. 31, 1944, received his basic training at Camp Hood, Tex., and after spending an 11-day furlough here, went overseas in September. He was awarded the combat infantryman badge in December.
Born Oct. 23, 1914, at Cedar Rapids, Ia., son of George and Clara Mayfield Hall, he came to Waterloo with his parents when he was a few months old. He attended West side schools and was a member of Union Gospel church. On July 4, 1938, he married Nina Laughridge, of Waterloo.
Also surviving is one brother, Gerald M. Hall, 1401 Jefferson street.

George Donald Hall died Feb. 16, 1945 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls, IA.
