Ex-Navy Man Now Army Air Corps Officer

Second Lt. R. C. Hagerstrom, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Hagerstrom, 915 Western avenue, who was graduated Thursday from an army air corps officer candidate school at Fort Sill, Okla., has left for Brooks Field, San Antonio, Tex., for observation flying training after spending a short leave with his parents. Lieutenant Hagerstrom formerly was a navy radio operator on the cruiser Houston.

Robert Carl Hagerstrom was born died Feb. 9, 1917 to Ed R. and Hazel Marie Spatcher Hagerstrom. He died June 8, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

2nd Lt. Hagerstrom served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 17th Squadron, 71st Reconnaissance Group. He was awarded Air Medal, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross.
