Sergeant R. H. Grubel has left after spending a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Grubel, 3604 Fourth street. He returned to March field, California, where he had been stationed for the last six months in the aerial engineer corps. His brother, Dale C. Grubel, is stationed with the air corps at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana.

Staff Sergeant Richard H. Grubel has returned to Westover field, Massachusetts, after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Grubel, 3046 Fourth Avenue and a reunion visit with his brother, Staff Sergeant Dale C. Grubel, here on furlough from Camp Howze, Texas.

Sgt. Richard H. Grubel Awarded the Bronze Star
M. Sgt. Richard H. Grubel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Grubel, 3604 Fourth avenue, stationed in southern Italy, has been awarded the Bronze star for meritorious achievement as flight chief with the Army air forces.
With the 15th Army air force, M. Sgt. Grubel has done outstanding work in the bombing of many oil and communications targets in enemy territory, his citation reads. He received a presidential citation also with his group for the vital bombing of the Messerschmidt assembly plant in Austria.
He enlisted in the Army air corps December 22, 1941, and has been overseas 14 months. M. Sgt. is a graduate of East high school, and before entering the service was employed at the American Gear works here.
