Norman A. Bennett, 23, a son of Dr. and Mrs. A.W. Bennett, 2729 S. Coral Street, is one of five Sioux City young men who has arrived at the University of Missouri in Columbia for a course of army air force instruction prior to appointment as an aviation cadet. Others taking work there include Fred David Johnson, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson, 622 W. Fifth Street, Francis G. Beedle, 22, son of Hulda L. Beedle, apartment 29 in the Park Theater building, Daniel J. Haas, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Haas, 1112 Oak Street, and Douglas C. Griggs, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Truman M. Griggs, 2657 S. Palmetto Street.

MEN and WOMEN in SERVICE
Aviation Cadet Clayton Griggs has arrived for study at the Missouri institute of aeronautics near Sikeston, Mo., for a course of study in the army air force flight training detachment. He received his preflight training at the San Antonia cadet center. He is the son of Truman M. Griggs, 3404 Garretson Avenue.

Five Sioux Cityans were graduated from Aloe army air field June 27 as fighter pilots and commissioned officers. From left to right they are: Lieut. Douglas C. Griggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Get Terminal Leaves
Nine officers from the Sioux City area re en route to their homes and will soon revert to inactive status at the expiration of terminal leaves, according or orders emanating from the Sioux City Army base. The name of one enlisted man discharged also was on orders.
One Sioux Cityan, Second Lt. Douglas C. Griggs of 3404 Garretson avenue, was among those released.

Douglas Clayton Griggs was born Feb. 14, 1922 to Truman M. and Ruby M. McKnight Griggs. He died Jan. 22, 1983 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
