IN IRELAND
Private First Class George H. Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ch. H. Griffin, 712 West Eighth Street, a former Muscatine high school athlete, is serving with a U. S. Army infantry somewhere in northern Ireland, where he is a member of a company softball team which recently won the battalion championship. Another member of the same team is Ernest Creno, a West Liberty boy.
In a recent letter to his parents, Griffin described the devastation wrought by enemy bombers at Belfast, Ireland, stating that “those land bombs they have tear practically a whole block at a time.”
