BRONZE STAR FOR WILLIAM GREIGG
T/4 William L. Greigg, serving in Battery C, 861st Field Artillery battalion, has been awarded the bronze star medal for meritorious achievement in Germany from April 10 to April 25, 1945.
The citation reads as follows: “During the swift offensive to the Danube river, T/4 Greigg performed his duties as a radio operator for a forward observer section in a superior manner. In an emergency, he assumed the duties of reconnaissance sergeant and carried on for three days until relieved. T/4 Greigg’s bravery and devotion to duty under hazardous conditions reflect credit upon himself and the armed forces of the United States.”
T/4 “Bill” Greigg is the son of Mrs. Hattie Greigg of Sioux City, former Hawarden resident.
