Local Officer Gets Purple Heart
Lt. Herbert A. Graybill has been awarded the purple heart for wounds suffered in France and is forwarding the medal to his wife at 1727 South Seventh street.
Shortly after receive a war department announcement stating that her husband had been seriously wounded on July 8, Mrs. Graybill received a letter written by her husband assuring her that he was all right.
He has been with the National Guard since February, 1940 and except for a 10-month period has served with this group since.
He has been overseas since April and was reported to have been wounded at Cherbourg.
