ANNAPOLIS DIPLOMA to RED OAK MIDSHIPMAN
RED OAK – Midshipman Ernest Joel Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Gray of Red Oak, is a member of the naval academy graduating class which will receive diplomas June 4 at Annapolis, Md.
Prior to his naval appointment, Gray attended Red Oak high school, the naval preparatory school ad Bainbridge, Md., and Duke university at Durham, N. C. He served 10 months in the naval reserve as a seaman 1/c.
Gray received class numerals in military track at Annapolis, was also a member of the class cerst (crest?) and ring committee and associate editor of the year book. In bridge organization, Gray held the rank of midshipman second petty officer and midshipman ensign (battalion supply officer).
He will be commission and ensign in the navy and will enter the aviation field.
