Jap Prisoner Says He Is Well
Lt. Jack D. Gordon, 29, a prisoner of the Japanese, is in “excellent health,” according to word sent his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris L. Gordon, 764 Avenue D.
The communication listed by the government as an unofficial message picked up from Japanese short wave radio stations, says:
“Happy to inform you, in excellent health. Give love to Richard, wife, children and family. Miss you terribly. Hope for early peace.”
The family last heard from Lt. Gordon, a medical officer captured with the fall of Bataan in December, 1943. At that time he was stationed at a prison camp in the Philippine islands. The message received here Wednesday was from Fukuoka camp in Japanese, possibly indicating he may have been moved.
The “Richard” mentioned in the message is Lt. Gordon’s brother and family.
