Ralph H. Fronk, 1211 West Fifth street, band director at West high school for the past 17 years, has received an appointment as a specialist in music in the U.S. Marine Corps. The appointment, received thru William Santelmann, director of the Marine band in Washington, D.C., is expected to give him a warrant officer’s rating after seven weeks basic training.
He will have charge of music morale, including dance bands, choirs and community singing.
Fronk is to report April 20 at San Diego, Cal. He received a leave of absence from the Waterloo school board.
His wife will stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Wolfe, 1520 West Fourth street, until he is permanently stationed.
