News of the Merrill Service Men
From Merrill Service Men’s News
Hurles Fox, T/Sgt. Hosp. Cen. Directory, APO 501, % P.M. San Francisco, was reported seriously wounded in action at Saidor, New Guinea on February 22. Hurles has probably seen more actual fighting than any service man from Merrill. For two years he has been in or near foxholes, fighting Japs, jungles and malaria in New Guinea. He was previously wounded in the arm on Christmas day of 1942, for which action he received the Purple Heart award. He had recently been promoted from Staff Sergeant to Technical Sergeant and had been promised a furlough to the U. S. soon.
