Ensign Harlan Ray Fisher

 

Local Youths Commissioned
Complete Course at Corpus Christi Base

Two youths from Council Bluffs have completed their flying at Corpus Christi air base at Corpus Christie, Tex., and have been commissioned ensigns in the navy reserve, it was announced at the base this week.

They are Ivan Lerdy Olsen and Harlan Ray Fisher.

Olsen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Olsen, route No. 3. He received his primary flight instruction at the St. Louis naval reserve air base.

Fisher is the son of Joyce Fisher, 2901 Avenue E. He is a former student of Los Angeles City college

Ens. Harlan Fisher was killed in a plane crash in the south Pacific.

Harlan Ray Fisher was born Oct. 21, 1920 to Joyce Jennings and Mamie Radliffe Fisher. He died Aug. 22, 1944 and has a cenotaph in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Council Bluffs, IA. He is memorialized at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
