Donald Vincent Doyle was born 13 January 1925, in Sioux City, to William E and Nelsine E (Sparby) Doyle. Donald attended schools in Sioux City and graduated in January of 1943 from Central High School.
Don was drafted, January 1943.
Served in the China-Burma-India Theater. Dibrugarh, India was his home in 1944-5. Member of the 44th Air Service Group HQ Squad. Discharge in 1946.
Member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Association, Inc., serving as past National Judge Advocate, and State Commander in 1965.
After the war, Don attended college, Colorado A & M, University of Nebraska received a Bachelor of Science at Morningside College in Sioux City in 1951. Attended University of South Dakota Law School, graduating
in 1953. Has practice law in Sioux City since passing the Bar in South Dakota and Iowa in 1953. Member of the Delta Theta Phi (legal fraternity).
Elected to the Iowa House of Representative, 1956 to 1980. Elected to the Iowa Senate, 1981-1993. While serving in the State Legislature, he served as Chairman, Judiciary Committee, 1982-1990; Member of law and Justice Committee, serving as Chairman, 1988-1989; member of The National Conference State Legislature, 1988 to 1989; Chairman of Iowa Boundary Commission, 1991-1992; member Commission of Accreditation Law Enforcement Agys., Inc., 1988-1995.
Recipient award Woodbury County Peace Officers, 1974. Member of Restoration Club, Sioux City, 1964; Outstanding Elected Official award Iowa Corrections Association, 1979; Member of Iowa Bar Association, and South Dakota Bar Association, and Woodbury County Bar Association.
Member of American Legion Post No. 64, VFW Post No. 580, serving as Post Commander, 1997-2001, DAV, 40 and 8 (Chef de Gare 1999-2001)
Married Janet E. Holtz, 9 August 1963, in Sioux City. They have one daughter, Dawn Renee.
