Clues Lacking in Dickinson’s
Death in West
A coroner’s jury in San Francisco, Cal., Friday had failed to find any clues as to the cause of the death of Bennie E. Dickinson, 38, formerly of Tama, IA., and son of Mrs. Ethel Walters, 1927 Franklin street, whose body was found floating near a bay pier there Monday night.
Coroner John Kingston, after investigation, reported no marks of foul play and said the body had been in the water about 36 hours before being found by a sailor.
The body had been brought to the surface of the water by the churning propeller of a boat about to dock. Identification was made by fingerprints on army identification badge.
According to officials in San Francisco, Dickinson had just been paid but only $2.20 was found in his pockets. He had been working as a crane operating at Fort Mason.
The body will be brought to Waterloo and taken to Kearns Garden chapel.
