Lt. Davis, Kin of Junction Woman, Killed in Italy
Columbus Junction—Mrs. Max Vannice of Columbus Junction was informed Wednesday that her brother, Lt. Ted Davis, 25, bombardier, and son of Theodore Davis, of Mediapolis, was killed in a plane crash in Italy. The message contained no further details.
He was a graduate of the Mediapolis high school in 1936; attended Iowa State College and had been engaged in farming with his father before entering the service. He had been overseas several months and had been on several missions.

Air Medal Was Given Lt. Davis Before His Death
Columbus Junction—Lt. Ted Davis, son of Theodore Davis, of Mediapolis, and a brother of Mrs. Max Vannice of Columbus Junction, was awarded the Air Medal before his death in a plane crash in Italy on July 26, it has been learned here.
A graduate of Mediapolis high school and a student of Iowa State College at Ames, Lt. Davis was a bombardier on a B-24 Liberator bomber.

Lt. Ted Davis Killed as Plane Struck Mountain
Columbus Junction—Lt. Ted Davis, whose death by plane crash in Italy June 20, 1944, was reported by the War Department to his father, Theodore Davis, July 12, was killed when the plane in which he was returning from a rest furlough on the Isle of Capri crashed into the side of a mountain. Although the other members of Ted’s bomber crew had also been on Capri, only one, Lawrence J. Ryan, was on the returning plane with Ted. All present on the ill-fated plane were instantly killed.
Mrs. Max Vannice of Columbus Junction, sister of Ted Davis, received the above information a few days ago from Lt. George Goodwin, pilot of Ted’s crew.
