VERNON DAHL WITH FAMOUS MUSTANG FIGHTER SQUADRON

An eighth air force fighter command station in England reports that T-Sgt. Vernon M. Dahl, of Okoboji, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Dahl, is a member of the eighth command P-51 Mustang group which recently passed the 450-mark in victories over Nazi planes, becoming the third American fighter group in the European theater of operations to make such a record.  T. Sgt. Dahl is a flight chief mechanic in a squadron engineering section.  He had been a student of auto mechanics before he entered the Army in November, 1940.  He now supervises the work of other mechanics responsible for the combat performances of eight Mustang fighter planes in his flight.
