Notes About N.E. Iowans in the Service
HAWKEYE—Chief Petty Officer G. L. Cumming has received an honorable discharge under the point system. He entered the service May 1, 1942. He served 30 months overseas in the South Pacific on Guadalcanal, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Okinawa. Chief Cumming was in the Seabees.

Grant Leyton Cumming was born June 11, 1906 to Hance Boggs and Agnes N. Smith Cumming. He died Sept. 5, 1995 and is buried in Hawkeye Cemetery, Hawkeye, IA.
