MEN IN SERVICE.
Monte Colbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Colbert, 3220 Sixth Street, has been promoted to sergeant. He is serving as a crew chief in the army air force at Mitchell field, New York. A brother, Robert Colbert, is serving in the front lines in North Africa. A second brother, Norton, recently arrived at an overseas post. Mrs. Monte Colbert resides at 3311 Fourth Street.

Sgt. Colbert Goes to Rest Camp; 31 Months Overseas
Sgt. Robert L. Colbert has departed for a rest camp at Hot Springs, Ark., after spending a 28-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Colbert, 3220 Sixth avenue.
In 1941, Sgt. Colbert left with the national guards for Camp Claiborne, and from there was sent to Ireland. He later joined the British commandos in Scotland and with them made the initial invasion in north Africa. He then rejoined his Army infantry division and went to Italy, where he became ill and spent a few months in a north African hospital.
Sgt. Colbert, who was overseas for a total of 31 months, was awarded three stars, combat infantry medal, and the good conduct ribbon. He attended East high school.
