Pfc. Alvin Christensen, formerly of Sioux City, is a member of the 90th division which has been credited with eliminating 29,000 Germans and capturing 17,000. He is with Lieut. Gen Patton’s Third army and took part in the invasion of France on D-day. He lives with his wife in Abilene, Tex.

Pfc. A. A. Christensen Reported Missing
Pfc. Alvin A. Christensen, about 32, a former Sioux Cityan, was reported by the War Department as missing in action as of January 10, in Luxembourg. He was employed here by the Palmer Fruit company when he resided here.
He was a member of the 90th division with Gen. Patton’s Third Army. Late in 1944 his division had been accredited with eliminating 29,000 Germans and capturing 17,000. He took part in the invasion of France on D-Day. His wife resides in Abilene, Tex.

Pfc. Alvin Christensen Is Killed in Luxembourg Battle
Pfc. Alvin A. Christensen, 32, a former employee of the Palmer Fruit company, reported recently as missing in action, was killed in action in Luxembourg January 10.
The soldier was born in Divide county, N.D., October 6, 1912. On January 6, 1937, he married Alice Rose Baremor in Dakota City, Neb.
Surviving are the widow, Alice Rose, Sioux City; four brothers, Cpl. Joseph Christensen of Vancouver, Wash.; Louis Christensen, Merrill; and Clarence and Elif of Westby, Mont.; five sisters, Martha and Ethel, Westby, Mont.; Mabel, Bremerton, Wash.; Esther of Jamestown, N.D.; and Lydia, Glasgow, Mont.
A memorial service will be held in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Rev. John P. Magnussen will officiate.

Alvin Ansgar Christensen was born Oct. 6, 1912 to Christian Anderson and Marian Jacobsen Christensen. He died Jan. 10, 1945 and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
Pvt. Christensen served with the U.S. Army 359th Infantry, 90th Infantry Division in World War II and was MIA/KIA in Luxembourg.
