Roger was born 4th October 1916, in Correctionville to Charles and Amy. His siblings are Russell, James, John, Aletha Smith and Lou Reyman. He attended rural schools in the Correctionville Schools. He was a farmer. He married Leah Young on 28th December 1945, in Correctionville, They have two children, Donald Roger and Gloria Plourde.
Roger enlisted 6th June 1942, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; trained at Camp Berrie, Texas. He received training - Rifle and Quarter Master. Roger shipped out 25th September 1942 for England. He served in the l56tn Infantry, in Heildelburg, Gemany; France, Belgium, and Holland.
