Ivan Case of New Hartford Missing
New Hartford – Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Case of New Hartford have received a telegram from the war department that their son, Pfc. Ivan Case, was reported missing in action Dec. 23 in Luxembourg.
He entered service in December, 1942, and received training at Camp Claiborne, La., and Camp Howze, Tex. Private Case went overseas in June, 1944. Before his induction he was employed by the Rath Packing Co. at Waterloo.
He has a brother, Samuel, serving overseas with the infantry. The last letter received from Clyde (sic) was written Dec. 21.

New Hartford Boy Killed in Action
New Hartford, Ia. – Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Case of New Hartford received a telegram from the war department that their son, Pfc. Ivan Case, was reported killed in action in Luxembourg Dec. 23. He had previously been reported as missing.
He entered the service in December, 1942, and received training at Camp Claiborne, La., and Camp Howze, Tex. Private Case went overseas in June, 1944.
Born Dec. 26, 1914, at New Hartford, he attended school at New Hartford and Waterloo. He was employed by the Rath Packing Co. before his induction.
Surviving besides his parents are one brother, Samuel, serving in the infantry overseas; five sisters, Mrs. Harlan Ackerson, Mrs. Leonard Lahmon, Mrs. Larry Sells, all of New Hartford; Mrs. Lee Sells, Cedar Falls, and Mrs. W. M. Cover, Richmond, Cal.

Ivan Leroy Case was born Dec. 16, 1914 to Clyde and Isabell Florence Griffith Case. He died Dec. 23, 1944 and is buried in Fairfield Township Cemetery, Grundy County, IA.
Pvt. Case served with the U.S. Army 10th Infantry, 5th Infantry Division in World War II.
