LEAVES FOR TRAINING
William A. Browning left Thursday to begin his military training in an army post, the local draft board announced. Browning was given his induction examination three weeks ago.

KILLED in ACTION
IRWIN – Relatives here have been notified that T. Sgt. William A. Browning was killed in action April 5 while serving with the 7th army in Germany. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Browning of Crescent, formerly of Woodbine. His wife is the former Maxine Olson of Irwin, and they have a daughter, Linda Kay, 1-year-old. He had been in service 18 months and overseas the last nine months. He had previously been wounded twice.

William A. Browning was born Mar. 3, 1919 to John and Luella Browning. He died Apr. 5, 1945 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France.
Sgt. Browning served in World War II with the U.S. Army 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division and was KIA in Germany and awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
