SOLDIER NEWS.
With the 5th Army, Italy—Private First Class Edward Boyle, son of Patrick J. Boyle of LeMars, has been promoted to sergeant. He is a squad leader with the 34th “Red Bull” division of the 5th Army in Italy.

SOLDIER NEWS:
Mrs. Patrick Boyle received a box from her son, S/Sgt. Ed Boyle, which was sent from Rome. In it was a small marble statue of the pope and two rosaries, which were blessed by the pope. Ed was recently promoted to staff sergeant from sergeant.

SOLDIER NEWS.
Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Boyle received three letters from their son, Edward Boyle, who is now stationed in Italy. The last letter was dated December 9. He told his folks that he is back in his old unit. He is still a staff sergeant, the same rank he had before his furlough.

Edward Boyle was born Feb. 27, 1922 to Patrick Joseph and Ethel Edna Heath Boyle. He died Nov. 24, 1987 and is buried in Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Mausoleum, Baton Rouge, LA.
