Veteran of Three Major Battles at Home on Furlough
Pfc. Raymond Bledsoe, veteran of three major battles in the European theater, is home on a 26-day furlough visiting his wife, Elnora, and three children, Tommy, Sally, Rae, 3919 ½ Floyd avenue.
Pvt. Bledsoe, son of Mrs. Vina Bledsoe, Dakota City, Neb., arrived in the States January 1, after serving 10 months overseas with the combat engineers of Patton’s Third army. He was stationed in Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland and was awarded the purple heart for a broken ankle suffered in the D-day invasion while driving a bulldozer to blow up German mines.
He wears three bronze stars, European theater of war campaign bar and the good conduct ribbon. Formerly employed by Cudahy’s Packing company, he entered the army December 17, 1943, and was sent overseas last March.
