Receive Purple Heart for Son
Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Barrett, 2121 Avenue C., have received the purple heart awarded posthumously to their son, Pvt. Joe Barrett, killed in action March 6 in Germany.

OBITUARY
Pvt. Henry J. Barrett
Funeral services for Pvt. Henry J. Barrett, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Barrett, 2121 Avenue C, will be held Monday at Holy Family church where a requiem mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m.
The body will lie in state at the Beem-Belford funeral home where a rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:45 and 8 p.m.
Burial will be in the St. Josephs cemetery, where graveside military rites will be conducted by the V. F. W.
Pvt. Barrett, who attended Holy Family school and graduated from Creighton Prep in 1944, was killed in action with the Third army in Germany on March 6, 1945. He had been overseas just two weeks and had joined the Third army forces just two days before.
Besides his parents, he is survived by sisters, Jean Barrett, Joan Barrett, Rosemary Barrett and Mrs. Richard Heuertz, all of Council Bluffs.
